I just put grilled bratwurst in ramen so I could not go to the grocery today and go to the brewery instead... not sure if I should be proud of myself or go cry myself to sleep.

That's total bullshit. You should have prepared the brats boil-only and put in some Wal-Mart Great Value angel hair to get bratwurst-flavored, then added some Barilla. Pretty cheap, better than putting the brats in ramen.
(Yes, this is something I've done)

I remember one weekend all I had to eat was some packets of ketchup and 2 pieces of rather old bologna. At 3pm on Saturday, I made 1 ketchup taco and on Sunday around the same time the other. Ketchup taco? Bologna with some ketchup in the middle, then roll it up. Washed it down with tap water, mmmm!

it was totally not yummy, but I had just moved to that town, was suuuper broke, and had nothing else. I was 200 miles away from my nearest relative and I knew zero people.

Wow. I'm glad I haven't gotten that creative yet. At least I'm putting off food so I can go play racecars more. There's a drift event this saturday that is a $50 entry(drifting my buddies super-60 turbo Datsun) and then next weekend there is a two day autocross event I got the invite to.

We definitely do. I've had my fair share. It gives us an appreciation for all the things we work so hard for.
I've never had a hand out. Had a job from the day I turned 16. Worked full time my senior year of HS (I got to leave at lunch because of credits and grades) and paid for college on my own. :D

agree 10000% and I did those exact same things. Early release my senior year, work started at 1pm. Still paying for my school lol. I'm still broke technically but untill recently, much better off. *high five to you buddy* Respect forever

Why I always made sure to have some Great Value angel hair handy. It's like a buck a package, and it's something abominably bachelor and cheap that's not ramen. You can eat it plain with butter and oregano, even.

Maybe. The advantage to the angel hair is that it's more widely available in cheap as dirt varieties, and if you're preparing it with/boiling at the same time as sausage, your sausage gets further cooked while the angel hair gets done anyway. I've never found angel hair to take very long at all in the grand scheme of things.

I did similar, rip apart leftover rotisserie chicken from lunch Friday add it to ricearoni after browning the rice with some giardiniera, the remains of some hot salsa and a few spices.
have a few beers while cooking given the lack of eating for the 7 previous hours I had a good buzz going by the time it was ready which only made it more tasty

Hahaha, I can cook quite well, I just can't support my food habit financially along with playing racecars.
